Oscar Jade is a private detective who lives in a one-room apartment above the beachfront Pelican Bar & Grill. When he is hired by Myrna Mallory to protect her from her husband - who ends up dead later that night - Jade must find a way to prove his client's innocence...and soon finds himself entangled in a dangerous conflict between two rival factions of a New York crime family.
